When is it mandatory to wear headphones?

According to Legislative Decree 81/08, the use of hearing PPE becomes mandatory when the daily noise exposure level exceeds 85 dB(A). However, it is strongly recommended already above 80 dB(A).

What does SNR value mean?

SNR (Single Number Rating) is an average mitigation index. If the ambient noise is 100 dB and I am wearing headphones with a 30 dB SNR, the noise perceived by the ear will be approximately 70 dB.

Are earplugs or headphones better?

It depends on the usage. The caps are ideal for prolonged use and in hot environments (they prevent sweating). Headphones are more practical for those who have to put them on and take them off frequently ("noise intermittent").
